Goodman, a global leader in logistics real estate, has commenced construction of a 25,000 sqm building for Renault, at Lambres-lez-Douai (59) in the business park Ermitage 2 of DOUAISIS AGGLO. The foundation stone of the building was laid today.

With easy access to the A1 motorway, and located close to the Renault factory in Douai, the new logistics platform will be used to store parts for the vehicles manufactured by the “diamond brand”. Renault Douai is currently preparing a transformation of its industrial plant in order to manufacture two future electric vehicles and the logistics facility is due for completion before summer 2020.
The development of this new logistics platform was made possible thanks to the support of DOUAISIS AGGLO, and its President Christian Poiret, who has always strived for the economic development of the region. The project is once again the result of the partnership with Goodman, which has enabled the construction of four buildings totalling 215,000 sqm in Lauwin-Planque since 2012. This is the second project to be undertaken in the Ermitage 2 business park, with the first building delivered at the beginning of 2019. Furthermore, two additional buildings of 44,000 sqm and 48,000 sqm have yet to be developed.
Christian Poiret adds: “In creating this business park, we focused on the logistics sector in order to develop the attractiveness of our region and create jobs for its inhabitants. We will continue to invest by building an interchange between RD 621 and RD 650 in the coming months, thanks to the Department of the North and with the co-financing of DOUAISIS AGGLO.
Philippe Arfi, Director of Goodman France, comments: “The automotive industry is a key customer group for Goodman around the world and we’re excited that our first customer in the automotive sector in France is Renault. It’s fantastic to start with such an emblematic company, the flagship of our French industry.”
