Panzani grows with Goodman as it expands its logistics centre near Marseille

Wednesday, 19 June 2019

In order to support the continued growth of leading food business Panzani, Goodman is expanding its Berre l’Étang logistics centre.

Through its many leading brands – including Panzani, Lustucru, Taureau Ailé and Ferrero – the Panzani group today ranks number one in all of its markets in France (pasta, sauces, rice and couscous). Its market leading position is built on quality products, and a strong production and logistics network.

In 2013, Panzani launched the ‘Grand Sud’ project. This project had the aim of bringing together its logistics management for the South of France as well as its exports, which had previously been divided between three sites and managed by two different operators. Panzani chose Goodman to be its real estate partner, attracted by the modern, scalable, 32,000 sqm logistics hub (including 1,600 sqm of office space) at Berre l’Étang, which is ideally situated about 30km from Marseilles and in close proximity to the main transport hubs (motorway, port and airport). ID Logistics was selected to operate the site.

A logistics hub to meet Panzani’s ever-evolving needs

Anticipating a growth in its activities, Panzani worked with Goodman to find the best way to support an increase in capacity and to continue to optimise its operations. The chosen solution was to extend of 9,000sqm the existing facility taking it up to 41,000 sqm.

The new development also includes a significant environmental element, in particular the building’s perimeter has been made greener by planting almost 400 olive trees.

“Goodman’s proposed solution is the simplest and most effective way of supporting our growth. Goodman’s expertise and ability to understand the key elements of our business development allow us to strengthen our leadership and optimise our operations”, comments Isabelle Bailly, supply chain director at the Panzani Group”

Aurélien Noël, portfolio management director of Goodman France, said, “ We look to work with customers on a long-term basis and offer solutions that adapt to their requirements as they evolve. By developing the Berre l’Etang site to be scalable from the outset, we were able to provide Panzani the flexibility they needed to support their growth when they needed it. Thanks to our excellent partnership with the local authorities, we have been able to rapidly meet Panzani’s needs.”
