Goodman, a global leader in logistics real estate, has acquired a 19-hectare landbank at Loroux-Bottereau in the community of the municipalities of Sèvre and Loire from Loire Atlantique Développement SELA, in order to develop a new logistics centre.
The development of two buildings – of 22,000 sqm and 50,000 sqm respectively – will be situated 16km to the east of Nantes. These state-of-the-art buildings will be equipped to the highest modern standards and will include an overhead clearance of 11.50m, LED lighting and a “Very Good” BREEAM certification, ideal for companies seeking a sustainable and efficient logistics operation.
Requests for building permission and operating licences are underway in order to fast-track the development needs of future customers.
A strategic location
This acquisition enables Goodman to offer potential customers a modern logistics facility in a strategic region, which is particularly dynamic both in economic and demographic terms.
The community of the municipalities of Sèvre and Loire is a suburban area at the borders of the Nantes metropolitan area and offers an environment that is highly favourable to enterprise benefit from infrastructure, amenities and a high standard of services.
Benoît Chappey, Director of Development at Goodman France, comments: “As one of the fastest growing regions in France, we are extremely pleased to be establishing ourselves in this region and to be supporting the development of logistics services in the heart of the community of the municipalities of Sèvre and Loire. Currently there are almost two million people that live within a sixty-minute drive time from the property and this is expected to grow. This location therefore has a lot of potential benefits for businesses such as e-commerce or retailers who want to be closer to their customers”.
The community of the municipalities of Sèvre and Loire and Loire Atlantique Développement worked with Goodman to design the project with the support of a project management team (Id Up agency and Artelia).
Pierre-André Perrouin, President of the community of the municipalities of Sèvre and Loire, commented: “Working in close collaboration with Goodman is a great opportunity. We share the same ambition: to welcome businesses to the territory who will become a driving force for the development of the local economy”.
BNP Paribas was the advisor to Goodman on this transaction.
