Goodman, a global leader in logistics real estate, has strengthened its relationship with Cdiscount, a leading French ecommerce company and part of the Casino Group, with the commencement of a new development in Saint-Etienne.
A strong partnership with 175,000 sqm of logistics space developed
The new 60,000 sqm logistics centre, located in Andrézieux-Bouthéon, will be the third to be developed in France by Goodman for Cdiscount in five years, adding to the 114,000 sqm already occupied by Cdiscount across two buildings located in the Seine-et-Marne region.
“Goodman continues to support our growth in a dynamic and competitive market, where logistics performance is at the heart of customer satisfaction. Goodman's real estate solutions enable us to meet growing demand and strengthen our position as the leading French e-commerce company. The development of the future Andrézieux-Bouthéon site is another step in the expansion of our logistics network," said Emmanuel Grenier, CEO of Cdiscount.
Saint-Etienne – a strategic location
Commenting on the strategic advantages Saint-Etienne offers as a logistics location, Benoît Chappey, Director of Development for Goodman France, said, "One of the great benefits of the area is that it is close to France’s main logistics axis and provides an alternative to service the Lyon region. The territory also offers a high-quality landbank and qualified workforce, which are two key benefits for our customers.”
Gaël Perdriau, Mayor of Saint-Etienne and President of Saint-Etienne Métropole, said, "The heart of the Saint-Etienne Métropole project is to create a favourable environment where companies can develop and new activities can take place. Logistics is a fast-growing sector, and we are delighted that Cdiscount and Goodman are strengthening their presence in our region.
Jean-Claude Schalk, Mayor of Andrézieux-Bouthéon, adds: “We are very pleased to welcome Cdiscount as the project will contribute both to the energy of our town and to the creation of jobs.”
The Saint-Etienne region is particularly attractive for current and future logistics activities and represents a strategic territory for Goodman, with plans to develop another logistics centre in Sury-le-Comtal in the near future.
