Goodman, a global leader in logistics real estate, has signed a new 30,000 sqm lease with Auchan Retail, at L’Isle d’Abeau, approximately 25km outside Lyon.
Extending the partnership between Goodman and Auchan
Since 2006, Auchan has occupied 43,000 sqm at Goodman’s L’isle d’Abeau Logistics Centre in the Lyon region. The location has served as an excellent base for the company with direct access to the A6, A7 and A43 road networks. When looking to increase its logistics capabilities to match its growing customer demand, Auchan chose to expand in the same area and now has 73,000 sqm to receive its own-brand consumer and household products from overseas to supply its distribution centres throughout France.
"As a leading global retailer, Auchan is pursuing a strategy to become more agile and effective. Our logistics operation is one of the keys to this strategy and it is essential that we constantly stay ahead of the game in order to continue to provide our network of stores and our customers with the quality of service they expect," comments David Lemahieu, director of European Logistics Operations at Auchan Retail. "Goodman is once again providing us with an ideal solution by enabling us to significantly expand our presence and capabilities at the L’Isle d’Abeau logistics centre."
Auchan is also a Goodman customer in Hungary where it occupies almost 80,000 sqm at Goodman’s Ullo Logistics Centre, in Budapest.
Goodman – a long-term vision of property performance
Auchan’s premises at l’Isle d’Abeau have been equipped with a number of sustainability features including LED lighting and a system of connected energy metres. These features ultimately allow Goodman to improve the performance of its buildings and will enable Auchan to optimise its energy expenditure.
Aurélien Noël, director of Goodman France’s properties, comments, "Goodman’s long-term vision helps us build a strong relationship with our customers and support them in their growth, which is clearly evident in Auchan’s expansion at Isle d’Abeau (Saint-Quentin-Fallavier). Our commitment is also reflected in the maintenance of our assets to the highest standards of quality through a process of continual improvement."
